Victorian house extension in Australia
This Victorian house in Melbourne, Australia feels likes stepping through time and space. This creative house extension designed by Matt Gibson Architecture is a true work of art. Three minimalist cubes are built behind the existing Victorian house. The green interior matches with the green front door, providing continuity to the space.

Exhibition of Valentino at Somerset House
This major new exhibition celebrating the life and work of Valentino will showcase over 130 exquisite haute couture designs worn by icons such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis, Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren and Gwyneth Paltrow in an exciting installation created specially for Somerset House.
Divided into three sections; visitors will start with a private view of Valentino’s world through photographs from his personal archive, offering an intimate portrait of the life of the master. The exhibition then unfolds into a couture fashion show where roles are reversed with visitors walking the catwalk to view a staggering one hundred and thirty Valentino haute couture designs. Valentino: Master of Couture promises to be a journey into the secretive world of Italian couture.
The final section will unpick the painstaking processes of crafting couture exemplified by the stunning wedding dress of Princess Marie Chantal of Greece, demonstrating the beauty of the work of les petit mains who sew each stitch by hand. In addition a specially commissioned group of films will allow behind-the scenes access to the Valentino atelier, where the craft of couture is demonstrated in a series of fascinating samples. Finally, discover more about the man, the icon, by exploring the Valentino Garavani Virtual Museum.
There will be a series of talks, screenings and events to accompany the exhibition.

The Fogo Island Studios in Newfoundland, Canada
Fogo Island Studios are slowly becoming an urban myth. The imposing landscape of the North Atlantic heralds the setting for four exclusive studios, soon to be six, on the North coast of Newfoundland, Canada.
LONG STUDIO
Inside Area: 130.8 m2
Total Footprint: 211.2 m2
The largest of the studios in the collection, its’ exterior surfaces are comprised of pre-finished rough-sawn painted pine planks. The left zone of the studio features mechanical equipment, storage areas, water tank, compost toilet, shower, kitchenette, wood-burning stove and a ladder that leads to the elevated sleeping loft. Built on stilts in order to take advantage of the exceptional views, its abundant natural light makes this space an ideal workplace for artists and designers.

Mechanical Insects Made from Old Watch Parts
Chicago-based jeweler Justin Gershenson-Gates has created these scorpions, spiders, and other insects out of old watch parts, and in some instances light bulbs. His work reminds me of Mike Libby’s work in which he uses the inner workings of antique watches, as well as random components from old typewriters and sewing machines, to reimagine real bugs as works of art.
